Robert Rinklin
President
Robert Rinklin has served as President of NE and the Transition Board for the past three years and has agreed to continue in that position on the new FCANNJ Board of Directors. He is grateful for the dedicated and enthusiastic work by the current Board members and looks forward to focusing on growing the new organization with the new Board. Bob manages a public and media relations company and lives in Montclair, NJ with his wife, Nicole. They have three grown children.
Archie Palmer
Treasurer
Rev. Archie Palmer joined the Board of MSNENJ in 2014. He has served as treasurer and interim administrator on the transition Board of FCANNJ for the past two years. An ordained Episcopal minister, he has served as interim minister at the Church of the Annunciation in Oradell, NJ since 2011. His wife, Lynne, is the Corresponding Secretary for FCANNJ.
Marilyn Trenka (Emeritus)
Marilyn Trenka, a wordsmith and amateur graphic artist, is the highly regarded eagle-eyed proofreader of much of the informational output. She has served as Membership Coordinator of the North Central affiliate for more than ten years, has been helpful in birthing the new organization and looks forward to helping to improve communications with FCANNJ members and prospective members.
Gerald Fierst
Gerald Fierst, a long time resident of Montclair, NJ is the newest member of the Board. He is a certified Civil Celebrant, writing and officiating at life passage ceremonies for births, marriages and funerals. Gerry is also a performing storyteller, author and teaching artist who works in the US and internationally at conferences, museums, schools and libraries.
Bill Slezak
Bill Slezak, a long time resident of northern NJ, had a long career with the US Army Corp of Engineers working in the NY/NJ area on water resource projects. Presently he is working part-time with an engineering consulting firm. Bill brings great technical skills to FCANNJ that are useful for managing our up-to-date telephone communications and our website management. He is an avid tennis player and bicyclist.
David Lewis (Emeritus)
David Lewis has been a member of the Board of Trustees of Northeast for 17 years and served as President from 2007 until 2014. A retired illustrator/artist, he now lives at Cedar Crest retirement community. He will continue to concentrate on outreach and presentations for FCANNJ.
Mary Moriarty (Emeritus)
Mary Moriarty is a retired attorney who now works as a Life-Cycle Celebrant, focussing on Celebrations of Life and Memorial Services. She comes to FCANNJ after working as a hospice volunteer and becoming increasingly interested in end of life issues. Mary has two grown children and lives in Little Falls with her partner Tom.
Shari Haber
Shari Haber founded Great Goodbyes, LLC to help people increase their death literacy, so they may make informed decisions and advance plan to die better and be remembered best. Haber’s interest in end-of-life issues and funerals began some years ago. She endeavored to write a TV script about Baby Boomers, and read about the growing death-positive movement plus the notion of “dying well.”
Haber is a former Communications executive who led consumer and product PR for Sony. She also helped Amazon and Priceline launch their respective e-commerce capabilities. In addition to serving as a FCANNJ Trustee, Shari is a member of New Jersey Health Care QUALITY INSTITUTE Conversations of Your Life (COYL) Task Force. She often speaks at the organization’s events. Shari lives in Upper Saddle River, N.J. with her husband, Manny, and has two grown children.
Linda Klempner, Ph.D.
Linda Klempner, PhD is a licensed clinical psychologist in Teaneck and Edgewater. She began Infertility & Miscarriage Counseling Services shortly after the birth of her second child and several fetal losses. Since that time, she has served on the Boards of Holley Childcare and Development Center and Postpartum Support International. Co-founder and former Board member of the PSI New Jersey Chapter, she has served as Chair of the PSI Advisory Council for ten years. In her role as head of Women’s Health Counseling & Psychotherapy, she has worked with women, men and families dealing with various grief and loss issues for many years. Linda lives in Edgewater with her husband, Ron. They have two grown sons, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
